What it does

Explains the eleven plus in plain English.
Shows open secondary schools in England from the government's register, on a map and by local authority, with grammar and other selective schools highlighted.
For schools we have checked, shows the test, key dates and admission rules, each with a link to where we found it and the date we checked it.
Works out straight-line distances from a postcode, and whether that postcode is inside the priority rules we have recorded.

It can't tell you whether your child will be offered a place. Only the school and your local authority can.
It is not part of any school, local authority or the Department for Education, and is not advice about a particular child.
It doesn't replace a school's determined admission arrangements. If anything here differs from what a school or local authority publishes, theirs is right.

No accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no tracking, no adverts. Nothing is loaded from any other website.
The postcode checker runs in your browser. To find your postcode, your browser downloads from this site the list of postcodes that share its first half (for example "SW1A"). Only that first half is ever sent, as part of the address of the file. The full postcode stays on your device, is not saved, and is gone when you close the page.
Links to school and council websites take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
